Houma Bound

Well, the Hergerts made it to Houma. After about 10 and 1/2 hours in a Uhaul with two dogs and each other, we made it to the hotel. It was an extra long trip since we had to stop frequently with the dogs, get gas, and the fact that we towed my car behind the MASSIVE Uhaul. However, it really didn't feel like a very long day. We laughed, sang, talked about tons of things, and tried to imagine what our new life was going to be like.

On Sunday, we were able to do a walk through of the house to make sure everything looked okay. I was nervous because Justin had never seen the house before. I hoped that he liked it because... well... we were stuck with it whether he liked it or not. Once he saw our big back yard, he couldn't stop grinning. He turned and looked at me when we got in the car and said: "You did good babe". We then began to take a Sunday drive down to Dulac where he was going to be working. Since we are in Louisiana, there is water everywhere! B was digging the bayou... and the warm weather! I captured him sticking his head out the window on our drive! His tongue was hanging out and it looked like he was smiling.

Although they were not big ships like the Cornelia Marie, it was really cool to see all of the shrimp boats along the bayou. It happened to be the "Blessing of the Boats" that day where everybody comes out and blesses the boats for the new season. People were everywhere and enjoying being out. There were places everywhere to buy fresh seafood. Needless to say, even though we weren't surrounded by mountains and Alaskan wildlife, we still saw some really cool boats and scenery on the way to his work.

And there it is... BM3 Hergert's new job! Woo Hoo!

After a day of exploring our new city, we decided the pups needed a little fun. We found a beautiful area away from traffic where we let the dogs off their leashes to do some playing. It was so nice to have all "four" of us together. We all had a blast and tried to relax because we knew the upcoming week was going to be exhausting!
